Under 12's v Whitehaven Amatuers 10/09/11

This was the first match of the 2011/12 Season and due to summer holidays the team had only played 1 pre-season friendly. Added to this the team had lost several established players but gained some new players. It was therefore no surprise when Whitehaven took a deserved 2-0 lead at half-time.

However, this team always have a determined attitude and never give up, so after some tactical changes at half-time the team began to pass the ball better, find space and win tackles in the middle of the pitch.

This hard work paid off with Joe McCartney scoring a second half hat-trick and with other goals from Arron Porterhouse and Tom Stephenson, Cockermouth ran out winners 5-3.

Credit must also go to a very disciplined Whitehaven side who played football in the right spirit and in the right way.
