About Us
Training : Monday nights during term time at the Cockermouth School Astro Turf between 5.00pm and 6.00pm
League : There is no girls U10 league in West Cumbria.
Cockermouth Junior Football Club offer an opportunity for girls to play football at a Standard Chartered Football Club. The girls section of the football club trains on a Monday night at Cockermouth Schools astro turf pitch. At each session the girls are split into “like ability” groups so all the girls play with other girls of similar ability. There are League teams for U14 girls (Year 8 and 9 at school) and U12 girls (Year 6 and 7 at school). Currently there is not a league in West Cumbria for girls U10 football (year 4 and 5). This however does not preclude younger girls from joining the club. Girls in year 5 are only one year away from playing regular league football in the U12 girls league.
There are two options for younger girl players. Firstly they can join in with the girls section training noted above. Currently we have 13 year 5 girl footballers, 2 year 4 footballers and 1 year 3 footballer. All girls that attend on Mondays play an active role in the training session regardless of their age or ability. The benefits of joining the girls section is that specific events and opportunities, where girls play against girls, are made available to the girls that may not fit into the mixed football schedule arranged within the boys section of the club. The other alternative involves the younger girls playing mixed football (girls and boys) in the appropriate age group. If this is your preferred option then contact should be made with the appropriate coach in the boys section. Mixed football is available up to school year 6.
Futsal competition ( a variation of 5 a-side football with a less bouncy ball and a few other rule differences)
Helen Aitchison, who is the Girls & Women's Football Development Officer at the Cumberland & Westmorland County FA, is organising a Cumbria wide tournament. The competition will run in late March or early April and will be entered by teams from all over the county. There is also a national competition this season for Futsal. The county winners will go on to the regional finals in June to be played in Manchester with the winners of that progressing to the National Finals. More details on dates when they become available.Opportunities may exist for an U10’s team in this competition.
Our girls have just played in the West Cumbria Futsal taster session two weeks ago where we entered three U12s teams and one U14s team.

Codes of Conduct – action required if you have not returned your signed codes to your coach
As discussed at several training sessions, this e-mail contains a link to the Cockermouth Junior Football Club website – Codes of Conduct. The Code of Conduct section contains the clubs codes of conduct, which defines the guidelines we should all behave by when engaged on club activities. Cockermouth Junior Football club is a Standard Chartered Club and the Codes of Conduct are an important feature of this status. There is one code for Coaches, one for Players and one for Parents / Spectators. Can you please print off the appropriate codes of conduct, have a good read, and then please sign it and return it to me at the next available training session.
It is important that all people involved with the club agree to abide by the clubs Code of Conduct. Following the Code will create a more enjoyable environment for all concerned, particularly the children, be it at training, a friendly match, a competitive game or a club function.
If anyone has any trouble accessing the website or would like to discuss anything about any of the codes, then please call your Lead Coach.
